Further information
Housing for Varying Needs Part 1 and Part 2 were produced by Scottish Homes (now Communities Scotland) in 1998 and 1999, respectively. They were published at the request of the Scottish Office (now the Scottish Executive) and replace Scottish Housing Handbooks 5,6 and 7, Housing for the Elderly, Housing for the Disabled and Housing for Single People, Shared Accommodation and Hostels, which were produced by The Scottish Office in the late seventies and early eighties.
Both publications were published by The Stationery Office.

Communities Scotland works on behalf of Ministers to promote social justice
and tackle exclusion through the delivery of sustainable community regeneration.
The establishment of Communities Scotland as an executive Agency on November 1, 2001 was a major step in the Scottish Executive's modernisation of housing and regeneration.

| • | Regulation & Inspection - overseeing the housing management, factoring and homelessness functions of all local authorities in Scotland, in addition to the social landlords who are currently registered with us. |
